The World Health Organization has confirmed 11 hantavirus cases associated with the MV Hondius cruise ship, with three deaths reported among passengers or crew. Spain's health ministry announced that one Spanish passenger evacuated Sunday tested positive for hantavirus and is in quarantine at a military hospital in Madrid. Thirteen other Spanish nationals evacuated simultaneously tested negative. All passengers and many crew members have been evacuated from the vessel, which is returning to the Netherlands for cleaning and disinfection. The outbreak appears concentrated among those aboard the cruise ship.
