A cruise ship hantavirus outbreak has spread among repatriated passengers, with a French national developing symptoms during evacuation to Paris. The MV Hondius, which arrived in Granadilla, Tenerife, had three fatalities among its 150 passengers and crew, two confirmed as hantavirus cases. French authorities placed all five evacuated nationals in strict isolation and transported them to Bichat hospital in Paris for 72-hour quarantine followed by 45-day home isolation. Over 90 passengers and crew were being repatriated by Sunday evening to France, Spain, the Netherlands, and other countries, each receiving mandatory quarantine and health monitoring. Two British men are receiving treatment in the Netherlands and South Africa, while a third suspected case is on Tristan da Cunha where British Army medics provided medical support.
